January Favourites 2014

There were a handful of products this month that have really helped me feel a little more human post-Christmas festivities, let get going shall we?

We all know how these things work so I'll get straight into the good stuff...

First up let's talk skincare. Christmas and New Year's definitely took it's toll - I'm not one for over eating or drinking but I guess my choice of foods, lack of sleep and general busy-ness make my skin have a little flap. So, to tackle some dehydration I picked up a new bottle of Hydraluron (a seem to have 'misplaced' mine). This stuff injects serious moisture and makes things much easier to work with when I comes to applying my makeup. See my full review here.

That's the daily stuff sorted, but as a twice/thrice a week deal I've been loving using the Vitamin E moisture mask from The Body Shop. There's a review coming up tomorrow but it's basically a thick cream that you slather on the skin and leave for 15 minutes before simply wiping off with tissue. You can also leave it on overnight for a deep treatment but either way I've noticed my skin feels super nourished come the morning. Come back tomorrow for more deets.

Now on to makeup. My foundation of choice recently has been L'Oreal's True Match - this purchase was all down to Amelia, here rave review for it is a dupe for Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk was enough to send me into a frantic panic and get my hands on it. I've not tried GALS but have always wanted to so to try a cheaper alternative was ideal - and I adore it! I'm pretty sure I tried it years ago when I first came out and Beyonce advertised it everywhere but at that time I was useless with makeup and it went straight over my head. Now however, I know what finish I like and this gives me that - a dewy but slightly matte finish that makes my skin glow. I have N3 Creamy Beige if you want a colour reference.

To apply this beauty I've been using my trusty Real Techniques Buffing Brush. This is no way a new purchase but I thought as I do use it every bloomin' day it definitely comes into the 'favourites' category - and oldie but a goodie. It just gives the most flawless finish to the skin and makes my foundation look super natural. I will never stop raving about these brushes - read about my top 3 from the range here.

I also caved and finally purchased NARS Laguna Bronzer before Christmas. Why it took me so long, I really don't know - but I can't imagine using another bronzer now and reach for it every single day. It doesn't look so appealing in the pan but on the skin it gives the ideal colour that doesn't draw orange or muddy but a gorgeous everyday contour colour that lasts all day. It may seem pricey but seriously, mine looks good as new and I use it all the damn time.

And finally, I had to give a mention to L'Oreal's #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray. I raved about this a couple of days ago so click here for that but all you need to know is this affordable dupe for Oribe Dry Texturising Spray is so damn good. Instant body and a bottle that gives serious life to my fine hair that lasts well and just, works. Oh and did I mention it's super affordable? I did? Well, you need to know.

What have you loved this past month?

I've seen that L'Oreal Volume Spray on offer, so I might buy it and try it out as I want the Oribe Texturising Spray but its a little out of my price range.
