Review: Bourjois Java Rice Powder

I've had this little baby in my stash for a long while now, ever since it was first released, so I have no idea why it's taken me so long to review it for you!

The Bourjois Java Rice Loose Powder was released as part of Bourjois's 150th Anniversary - wowza! It was one of their first, if not the first, product from the brand all those years ago and it's re-release proved it's just as popular now.

It's extremely finely milled with a very, very subtle shimmer that gives a glow rather than glitter. I like to use it dusted on my t-zone or patted on my cheekbones/brow bone with my fingers for a heavier application and more of a highlighting effect. I wouldn't use this all over the face, simply because it is too shimmery for my liking. I've seen many bloggers compare it to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and claim it's a pretty good dupe - I've not got the Hourglass offering, despite being desperate for it, but I hope it is close to it because it'd save me a few pennies!

I love the packaging, the vintage design on the lid is beautiful and the twist top allows you to control how much you use - no clouds of powder when you open it!

Do you have the Java Rice Loose Powder from Bourjois?

  3. I wouldn't say it made it last any longer than the normal setting powder, but not less either. I tend to use it for highlighting as opposed to setting my undereyes/t-zone xx
