On Friday I popped along to Birmingham after work and headed to Selfridges in Bullring where a masterclass for long lasting makeup was being held at Urban Decay with the beautiful Kirsty Lo. It was a blogger event that was an hour long and essentially Kirsty talked us through all the fab products Urban Decay offer for making your makeup stay put for longer - something I was definitely interested in seeing as I get up at 4am each day for work!
There were around 7 of us in total and I got to meet all new bloggers which is always nice! Kirsty began with the eye primers. Urban Decay's Primer Potions are some of their best sellers and come in 4 variations - Original (which dries clear), Sin (a stunning metallic which is gorgeous on it's own), Eden (colour correcting for redness) and Anti-Aging (which has vitamins and minerals in for mature skin). I actually have Sin and love it so much because I wear quite a lot of metallic shadows which makes it a perfect base but every single one of these seems great. Eden would be my next purchase I think because I do get some discolouration and it'd be great for days when I don't wear shadow! They really do make eyeshadows last so much longer and also prevent creasing - I've definitely become more of a fan of eyeshadow primers recently.
Next up we had the complexion primers - Brightening & Tightening and Pore Perfecting. The B&T one is a clear gel that does exactly what it says on the tube - brighten and tighten skin to give it more of a glow. It felt nice and cooling on the skin and didn't leave a tackiness. The Pore Perfecting one was actually my favourite of the two which surprised me because pore-focused primers aren't usually my thing (Benefit's Porefessional for example I just cannot get on with) but as opposed to the normal silicone based primers with the same aim, this is much more gel-like which I prefer. Just rubbing it into my arm I could feel it smooth over the skin and again, no tackiness!
Finally we took a look at all of the setting sprays - by far my favourite discovery of the afternoon! There the B6 Prep Spray (to be used before makeup to reduce redness and calm the skin) then the Setting Sprays De-Slick, All Nighter and Chill. De-Slick is for oilier complexions to help mattify the skin whilst the Chill bottle is for dry skin to hydrate and cool. Then there's the All Nighter, the original and best selling (they only got it back in stock last week!) which is for all skin types and simply locks everything to make it last! For all the setting sprays you just spritz is all over the face once you've completely finished your makeup - I think some people spritz after foundation too just to make the base last longer as well.
It was such a fab afternoon and Kirsty is so, so lovely so a big thanks to her for hosting it! If you're heading over the the Urban Decay counter in Birmingham Selfridges be sure to say hi to her - her makeup skills are insane so definitely get her to give you a tutorial or two! I ended up picking a couple of pieces up myself, you may have seen the picture on Instagram, so keep your eyes peeled for full reviews on those soon.

Look at all the pretty packaging! I swear I'll buy anything by Urban Decay just because it looks pretty even if I don't need it!
