Review: Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl 'Eye Cheat'

I'd like to place full blame for this purchase on my friend Bec - that's cool, right? We were on a perusal of the Selfridges beauty counter last week and as she handed over cash for a couple of items from CT, I just... didn't want to be left out? Ok, rubbish excuse.

I was umming and ahhing over one of Charlotte Tilbury's Chameleon pencils but after not being convinced on the colour thanks to the lame lighting in these places - seriously, natural light please - I was drawn to something I knew I'd use every day. The Rock'n'Kohl in Eye Cheat. It's claimed to be a 'liquid eye pencil' which is a strange conception but I think it's because it's so buttery soft! I cannot begin to explain how little pressure you need to place on your skin to get the highest pigmentation I've ever experienced in an eye pencil - particularly a nude.

Rock'n'Kohl in Eye Cheat is the perfect nude liner that is ideal for running along your waterline for, as Charlotte Tilbury says herself, bigger, brighter eyes. I much prefer nude liners for this over white simply because they look so much more natural. Back to how soft these are... when using a pencil on such a delicate area like your waterline, the last thing you want is to be tugging away at the skin trying to get the colour payoff. Not with this! That buttery soft formula glides on seamlessly - no pulling of tugging in sight and instant pigmentation. Perfect.

Now, one little niggle. The staying power. I don't think I'd be so underwhelmed by the staying power of  the Rock'n'Kohl in Eye Cheat had it not claimed to last for up to 14 hours. Obviously I'd never expect anything to truly last that long but I'd say this had about 5 hours wear before it had gone from my waterline and I was left with a little residue right along the lash line. However saying that, I don't think the staying power claim was intended for waterline use - I think it would live up to it if I were to use any of the other colours smudged all over the lid or whatever. Maybe altering the formula for the nude shade could be considered? After all, Eye Cheat isn't going to be used anywhere else I wouldn't have thought.

This slight ish isn't enough to put me off though. Would I say Charlotte Tilbury's Rock'n'Kohl in Eye Cheat is the best nude eyeliner? Y'know what, yes. Out of the ones I've tried, yes. Although the likes of Rimmel Scandeleyes is a great cheaper alternative, it just doesn't compete in pigmentation and formula.

At £19 it's not cheap but also not as pricey as I was expecting from Charlotte Tilbury. Not going to lie, I definitely have my eyes on her Golden Goddess eyeshadow quad and the Coachella Coral lipstick... have you seen the packaging?! Ohh, Charlotte Tilbury. What a babe.

Have you tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury's debut collection?
