Review: Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

I thought it was about time I got through some of my many samples that I've collected in recent months... so to kick it off, last night was the turn of a beauty from Elemis.

The Papaya Enzyme Peel from Elemis sounds much scarier and scientific than it really is. The name itself - 'enzyme peel' - is completely misleading in all honesty but I guess it does sound like it'll do wonders to the skin. It's definitely not a peel in anyway so don't let that put you off - I kind of expected one of those masks you peel off once they've dried but it's just a beautiful, thick cream.

The fruity white cream applies really easily and feels like you're just putting on moisturiser without rubbing it in which makes for a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. It doesn't dry on the skin per-say, but it does tingle slightly - I believe this is thanks to the papaya and pineapple extracts.

The Papaya Enzyme Peel is described as a natural exfoliant which smooths, brightens and clarifies the complexion. When it says 'exfoliant', I can't really back that up as there aren't any grains to do that job but I removed it with a muslin cloth to cover that aspect. And what about the other claims? Well, I can safely say it definitely left my skin feeling energised and looked instantly brighter which it something I've not found with any other masks I've used! Very, very impressed! Despite being aimed at more mature skin I'd say this would be appropriate for any skin-type but particularly those of us with more sensitive skin as it is such a gentle mask.

It retails at £29.50 but Gorgeous Shop (I've bought from here many times) have it at £23.60! I'll definitely be considering getting the full size of this to add to my mask collection

What other Elemis products would you recommend?

  2. Hi Evelyn! Yes I think it would, it's very gentle so that's a bonus, and there's natural extracts in there so no nasties! :) x
